Foaled April 21, 2008, Gunther is a magnificent 17-hand palomino F1 Drum Horse stallion, registered with the International Drum Horse Association as D0159S. As a first-generation Drum Horse, he represents an equal blend of Gypsy Vanner and Clydesdale blood—combining the abundant hair, beauty, intelligence, and engaging personality of the Gypsy Vanner with the tremendous size, bone, strength, and presence of the Clydesdale.

Gunther is sired by the influential palomino Gypsy Vanner stallion Desert Jewel Flash of Gold and out of the impressive 17.1-hand Clydesdale mare Mt Baker Majors Taxes. This carefully balanced cross created a stallion with the substance of a true draft horse while retaining the elegance, balance, and natural athleticism desired in a modern Drum Horse.

Even as a young horse, Gunther stood apart. He was celebrated not only for his exceptionally rare palomino color, but also for his naturally uphill build, balanced movement, and remarkable disposition. The Genetics Behind the Gold

Gunther’s documented color genetics are e/e a/a N/Cr. His palomino coat is produced by one copy of the cream dilution acting upon a chestnut base.

Because Gunther is genetically e/e, he passes a recessive red allele to every foal he sires. He also has a 50% chance of passing his cream gene with each breeding. When paired with appropriately selected and color-tested mares, he can contribute to an exciting range of color possibilities, including palomino, buckskin, smoky black, chestnut, bay, black, and even double-dilute offspring.

His golden color may attract immediate attention, but Gunther offers far more than color alone. His monumental size, substantial bone, balanced conformation, distinguished pedigree, and famously affectionate temperament are the qualities that make his genetics so valuable to the future of the Drum Horse.
