Crown Cavalo Ritz Carlton
The Golden Sire Behind a Crown Cavalo Legacy
Striking color.
Ritz was the first foal I ever planned and bred—the horse I had imagined long before I met him. Somehow, I was lucky enough to watch that dream arrive exactly as I had pictured it.
At around 10:30 that night, a text woke me from the sleep I had promised myself I wouldn’t fall into. I hurried to the barn and peeked over the stall door from outside. Primrose was beginning to push. Not wanting to disturb her, I waited outside for fifteen minutes before quietly stepping in.
He was her first foal, too.
At approximately 120 pounds, Ritz made quite an entrance. His color was the first thing I noticed, then his eyes, and then an expression that seemed to say, “Well, get me out of here.” It has been love ever since.
He found his feet quickly and soon bounced around like a rabbit, full of curiosity and confidence. I adored him, but I also understood the responsibility of raising a stallion. Wanting to give him the foundation he deserved, I began his education as a yearling. Eventually, he went off to “boarding school” with Heather Meyer of Reimagine Horsemanship, LLC.
Heather has helped shape that spirited little colt into a willing, affectionate partner. Along the way, we discovered something that still means more to me than his color or pedigree: Ritz doesn’t seem to have a mean bone in his body. He has an endearing, puppy-like personality, and watching his gentleness with our young son has made me love him all the more.
His education began early, but his physical development was never rushed. He was given time to mature and began work under saddle only after his third birthday, following a veterinary evaluation and radiographs. His continued training reflects the same care that went into planning his arrival.
Today, Ritz stands 16 hands, with the presence, substance, and athleticism we value in a Drum Horse. A double-dilute, homozygous tobiano stallion, he passes a cream gene and the tobiano gene to every foal he sires. Those genetics offer exciting color possibilities; his temperament is what makes us especially proud to build a breeding program around him.
At two years old, he settled two of our mares on their first breeding attempts. His first foals have exceeded our hopes, showing promising height, athletic conformation, and a presence that is already distinctly their own. Watching them grow has brought another kind of joy: seeing the horse I once dreamed of become part of someone else’s future.
Ritz’s breeding opportunities will remain limited and personal. While he continues his training and is currently unavailable to visiting outside mares, Crown Cavalo may release no more than five breeding doses annually for carefully approved pairings. Each mare will be considered for how she complements his conformation, temperament, and the long-term goals of our program.
We will also offer a limited number of thoughtfully bred Ritz Carlton offspring to homes that appreciate both their quality and the care behind them.
Ritz began as a dream I held for myself. Sharing a small part of that dream—and the possibility of a horse someone will love as deeply as I love him—is what makes this next chapter so meaningful.
Private inquiries about future breeding opportunities and upcoming Ritz Carlton foals are warmly welcomed.
